We pray the Rosary on Wednesday evening at 6:30 PM. Members of the Knights of Columbus Council 6398 direct the Rosary in the Saint John
Cry Room

Catholic tradition tells us that the Rosary was given by the Blessed Virgin Mary in 1214 to Saint Dominic (Santo Domingo de Guzman), the founder of the Order of Preachers or Dominicans.
The word rosary comes from rosarium, meaning a garland of roses. This prayer is a mantra like recitation of Our Father's and Hail Mary's that is used as a vehicle for
meditating on the mysteries of Our Lord's life.
From the institutionalization of the rosary by Pope Pius V in 1569 until 2002, the rosary contained fifteen mysteries each consisting of the recitation of one Our Father, ten Hail Mary's, and a Glory be.

The mysteries were divided into three categories:  Glorious, Joyful, and Sorrowful.

In 2002 Pope John Paul II added five optional mysteries under the heading Luminous to the rosary.
